I am totally overwhelmed with the outpouring of support that I've gotten from the online community over the last few weeks. I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone so much for all of the support, good thoughts, and prayers that I've gotten. It really meant a lot to me and has helped me get through this horrible process.
The first biopsy didn't work. They had some type of equipment malfunction and they were unable to correct it after four hours of attempts. Thank God my mother has one of the best doctors in the country and he didn't want to poke around blindly in her brain. The team somehow managed to do the biopsy the next day using a totally different system. They were joking that it took more planning and coordination to do my mom's surgery than to get Osama bin Laden. My hat goes off to the great Seals and I'm glad they got him, but I've been a bit busy worrying about things a bit closer to home these days. It's funny because the first time around with my mom's brain was September 11th, 2001. Weird timing right? Anyway, they had to move mountains to get my mom back into the OR for another complicated procedure the next day, all so they can figure out what they are dealing with. We'll know in two weeks...
Anyway, my mom is doing a lot better now than she was. She only remembers my name half the time, but she's at least really good at faking knowing who I am. She even gave me a kiss when I was leaving last night so that's really good. They hope to move her out of the ICU today down to a normal room.
As a side note, we kept joking that we wanted to be at Seattle Grace because we wanted McDreamy to be her surgeon. Umm, I totally take that back now. My mother's doctor was a hottie! And he was nice. And he was brilliant. I don't even want to watch Grey's Anatomy tonight because I've had my eye candy for the week and he was REAL! Eee! Plus my mom had a pregnant nurse who stood up for her (love love LOVE the nurses) so really it was like Grey's in real life. So go figure.
Seriously though, you guys are the best and it really helped to be able to log on to the computer via crappy wireless hospital internet and see all the good wishes.
THANK YOU!
