My blog was part of my New Year Resolutions. I had unsuccessfully tried to journal but I'm much better at typing. I had started to read other adoption blogs and figured that maybe I'd join in. I never dreamed that anyone would really want to follow me, and low and behold, people did!
When I started this blog, I decided to change some names around. People in my offline life don't know about this blog (with the exception of my best friends and my boyfriend). It even took me a long time to clue them in. I figured that if I changed names around, I could protect privacy. Then a few of my blogging friends had issues. And I started to think things over. What if someone from my first family or adoptive family found my blog? Would they be upset? I had changed names that's true. And I never posted pictures. But there were enough details in some of the posts that made me wonder if people stumbled across my blog who knew them in real life, could they put two and two together?
I decided to go private for some of my blog posts. I was honest about some frustrations I was having (with my first family and adoptive family) in some of my posts and I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of my first mother or adoptive family reading those posts. Blogger doesn't let me password protect individual posts, so I had to migrate those posts over to WordPress. I have another blogging friend who did something similar about a month before so I got the idea from her.
I don't have any problem giving out the password. My reason for password protecting things isn't to hide information from the world, it's just to be more respectful of some of the things I blog about. So just email me at insertbadmovietitlehere@gmail.com and I'd be glad to give you the password. It would be nice if you told me what your connection to adoption is, but I'm not really picky. I've given it out to potential adoptive parents, to friends of adoptees, to adoptees, to first parents, adoptive parents, you name it I've given it out. What I have found most interesting is that it's the first parents and adoptive parents who have asked for it most. Interesting, no?
Anyway, now you have an idea about why some posts are private and on a different blog. I'm sorry for any inconvience and I hope you keep reading!
