Picture Sundays

So a girl needs to have a hobby.  She just does.  Could you imagine if I just went to work everyday, came home and blogged about this huge part of my life everyday and that was it?  No, that would be a pretty sad existence.

I've always liked taking pictures.  I'm the girl with the camera, snapping pics of people at family functions, outings with friends, etc.  I don't like pictures of myself unless I'm a kid (those pictures I actually like) so it's been challenging sending pictures to my first family.  Not a whole lot of pictures exist because I'm always the one behind the camera.

Lately, I've been taking more pictures.  My point and shoot camera broke (I wanted to cry) and my parents gave me cash for my birthday.  And the camera I'd had my eye on went on sale.  It felt like the stars aligned.  This could be interesting I thought.  So I took the plunge and spent way too much money on a new DSLR camera.  Best.  Idea.  Ever.

So now that I've spent half a paycheck on a camera, I had to learn how to use it.  I'm still learning.  I'm reading every photography blog I can find.  I'm pouring over photographs, trying to learn how to take better pictures.  I know what apature is now.  I know what the rule of thirds is now.  And I'm learning other things too.

As a way to practice taking pictures, and as a way to liven up my blog a little bit, I have a series I post on Sundays.  It's a way for me to take a break from adoption for a day and post pictures that I've taken.  I use Insta.gram a lot on here, because I can.  And it's free photo hosting so I can save space for other graphics on this blog.

For more information about why I love photography so much, check out a post I did called My Pine Cone.
