Truth Challenge: Day 2

Day 2: Something you love about yourself.

One thing that I really love about myself is my courage. I may be scared of things, but I don’t let that stop me from doing anything. I never saw myself as a courageous person before, but I’m starting to realize that I deal with things a lot better than most people do.

For example, when I was younger my mom got really sick on September 11th (yup, THAT day) and I had to deal with it very quickly. My mom was sick, so she couldn’t help me through it, my dad was so upset he ignored me and my sister for a few weeks, and everyone else was too busy making sure I was physically taken care of that they didn’t have time to ask me how I was dealing with things. Most people would have shut down and demanded attention, but I had courage and dealt with things.

Sending my first letter to NeverTooLate was the hardest thing I’ve ever done without a doubt. I was so scared I’d be rejected. Yet I was able to mail the letter. I never felt as good about myself as I did that day. I knew that I was making the right decision and I had courage to accept the outcome, no matter what it was.

I may agonize about a decision (see yesterday) but once I make that decision, I go for it full speed ahead. I think about what I want and then I go for it. I don’t see-saw; I have courage and the hardheadedness to go for it. Some might call it a weakness, but I love that about me and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
