    Yeah, this seems like a cop out to be honest. Who of us tells, or is even expected to tell, our employers all our personal history?

    I think she IS using her job as an excuse. Catholics LOVE adoption. To her employers, she would be a hero and a "role model" for anyone who would consider the Catholic church's most heinous crime- abortion. Nah...she's now hiding behind her job. She's classic.

    I dunno. I think people in the Catholic Church can be very judgmental and she may have valid reasons for concern. Perhaps she actively lied about something, rather than simply withholding the entire truth, which could be seen as a big mistake.

    I would schedule a visit with your own Church leaders and explain what you know of the situation. They would be in the best position to tell you whether or not she has reasons for concern.

    But, even if the Church stands ready to forgive her, maybe she hasn't forgiven herself and maybe that is the real barrier. Perhaps she isn't ready to ask the Church and her family to forgive her because she hasn't come to terms with it herself.

    Just ideas. =)
